Info:
OZARK AIR LINES McDonnell Douglas DC-9-41 Ozark Airlines first took to the skies in 1945, on a triangle route between Springfield, Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri, us- ing a Beechcraft Staggerwing aircraft. Ceasing operations la- ter that year, the company name remained dormant until September 26, 1950, when the "new" Ozark Air Lines inaugu- rated DC-3 service between Chicago and St. Louis, via Deca- tur, Springfield and Champaign/Urbana. From a four plane, 40 employee carrier, Ozark grew to become a major regional air- line, with fifty DC-9s and nearly 4000 employees. One of its series 40 model DC-9s is shown at Lambert-St. Louis Interna- tional Airport. Ozark was purchased by TWA in September, 1986.
